Vivienne M Gouthro is a Qualified
Barrister with experience in chambers in England,
Spain, Gibraltar and The Bahamas. She specialises
in ship and international finance involving Bahamian
ships and companies, acting primarily for financial
institutions and providing legal opinions on complex
international finance matters and commercial acquisitions
and sales. She also assists ship owners with the
registration of pleasure yachts and large commercial
vessels on the Bahamian Register of Ships.

Vivienne earned an LLM from Queen Mary & Westfield
College, University of London and a BA (Hons) in
English and Spanish Law from the University of Kent
in England and Universidad Complutense in Madrid,
Spain. Vivienne was called to the Bar of England
and Wales in 1993 and completed her pupillage in
Gibraltar. In December 1995 she joined Higgs &
Johnson, Nassau office as a Registered Associate.
After four years at Higgs & Johnson’s
Nassau chambers, Mrs Gouthro moved to Freeport
to reopen the firm’s offices in Freeport,
Grand Bahama. She became a Partner of the firm
in 2002 and currently serves as the managing partner
of the Freeport office. Her practice extends to
provide a full range of corporate services to
clients through the firm’s affiliate, H
& J Corporate Services Limited, including
the incorporation and licensing of local companies.
She also counsels clients in matters relating
to Real Property, Conveyancing and Mortgages,
Wills, Probate and Administration of Estates,
Trademarks and Immigration. Mrs Gouthro acts for
some of the major local banks and has assisted
in the purchase of local hotels and the financing
of large developments on the Island of Grand Bahama.
She has authored several articles for the firm’s
client newsletter, FOCUS, as well as contributed
articles to MONDAQ Business Briefing. She has
assisted in the presentation of seminars to clients
and moderated legal conferences. |
