| Mrs. Tara Cooper
Burnside
is a member
of the firm’s Litigation, Financial Services
Law & Regulation and Insolvency & Restructuring
Groups. In addition to litigation, Mrs. Burnside
provides advice on a wide scope of insolvency,
multi-jurisdictional commercial, employment and
transactional matters. Her financial services
regulation practice covers the range of
transactional, regulatory and compliance issues that
financial institutions confront on a daily basis.
Further, Mrs. Burnside's litigation practice includes
complex commercial disputes and contentious
insolvency matters such as director misfeasance
actions and fraudulent preference claims.
Mrs. Burnside holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the
University of the West Indies at Cave Hill,
Barbados and a Certificate of Legal Education
from Commonwealth Caribbean's Council of Legal
Education Eugene Dupuch Law School at Nassau,
Bahamas. In addition, she holds a Master
of Laws degree in International Commercial Law
from the University of California at Davis and
was called to the Bahamas Bar in 2001. She
joined Higgs & Johnson as an Associate in 2005
and became Partner in 2010.
Mrs. Burnside is presently an associate tutor in
Civil Procedure and Practice at the Eugene Dupuch Law School and a member of the Board of
Directors of Faith Temple Christian Academy. She
is also a former member of the Constitutional
Reform Commission (2002 - 2007). |
