Ms. Tara A. A. Archer has extensive legal experience concentrated in the areas of international and commercial litigation, law of insolvency, banking and compliance law, employment law and admiralty law. She has appeared as counsel or co-counsel in a number of important international and local cases. In addition, she provides legal advice and counsel to major international and local financial service providers and corporations regarding cross-border and multi-jurisdictional litigation, asset-tracing and recovery matters and internal operations.

Ms. Archer obtained an Associate of Arts degree (Hons) from the College of The Bahamas and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada. She earned an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Essex, Colchester, England, where she served as President of the Law Society. Tara was called to the Bar of England and Wales in July, 1998 as a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, and to The Bahamas Bar in October, 1998. She joined Higgs & Johnson that same year.

Ms. Archer became a partner in 2007 and is currently a member of The Bahamas Bar Association and the Center for International Legal Studies. She has held the positions of Secretary of the Consumer Litigation Committee and Country Chair (Bahamas) of the Litigation Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA). In 2009, she was appointed Vice Chair of the Consumer Litigation Committee and is currently a member of the editorial board of Dispute Resolution International, a publication of the IBA. Ms. Archer has lectured in Constitutional and Administrative Law and the Bahamian Legal System at The College of the Bahamas and is a volunteer at The Bahamas Legal Aid Clinic.
